Two sidings for which I did not have a specific use have been extended and realigned to provide the museum area, with one siding housing the coaches and the other splitting into two tracks into the locomotive shed. So far, the area has been cleared and the tracks laid in position. The shed tracks will have inspection pits cut between the rails then the shed built and placed over, roughly as marked on the photograph. ![]() ![]() ![]() A cardboard mock-up of the shed has been made to test the size and look. ![]() ![]()
![]() After the purchase of a 2-10-0 tender locomotive I really needed a turntable, so the trackage has been altered and a turntable fitted. The place where the well was needed came right on top of one of the frame strips, limiting the depth, but it looks ok.
![]() Above left is the start of the turntable deck, made from plastic sheet. Above right is the well, the framing can be seen. Below left the deck is tested in the well, below right is the deck with rails glued into grooves.
![]() A heavy piece of brass is fitted under the deck to form a pivot and give weight.
![]() The strips of spring brass each side of the center pivot hole connect with the centre boss.
