An HO scale model railway layout based on the railways of Slovenia

Anderslej FACEBOOK Page

The previous layout was dismantled when we moved from England to live in Slovenia.
Now being recreated in it's new home

next update here

19th May 2013
I decided to use the siding alonside the turntable to stable the Gomulka, so this will need catenary. As the wires are not yet installed, the Durica was used to push the Gomulka into the siding to determine the length needed. Just fits!
13th May 2013
The rebuilt website has now been uploaded as can be seen. I hope all the links work ok, but there are a lot more changes to come, including new photographs to give a uniform look and details on the new layout as it progresses.

News items and progress will continue to be shown on this home page "blog", but the individual pages will also be updated as work progresses or more items are acquired.

13th May 2013
Sorted out the trees from the previous layout, looks like there will be enough to screen the wall edges.

Also made a start on adjusting the catenary posts to fit
the new track configurations, and first three posts installed.

5th May 2013
Fitted a dedicated socket for the mains plug on the dcc controller and the dc transformer, so all wiring is hidden and permanently pinned in place. Also tidied up some other under-boards wiring. Replaced a dodgy short length of track which was causing wagons to jump a bit. All nice and smooth now.
Just need to check and glue in place all the turnout switches and shorten control rod where some of them are sticking up above the tie bar and fouling the kadee coupler bar. Next job is then painting and ballasting the track.

1st May 2013
After a suggestion from son Matthew, I will be adding a cement loading plant to a short siding. This will also effectively hide a vertical beam.

17th April 2013
As much of the website is using images and information from the previous layout in England, I am slowly rebuilding the pages to reflect the new model, but keeping relevant features like catenary construction, station building, etc.
This home page shows the new colour style, but when other pages are complete the navigation bar will be amended to go to the new pages.

Fitting of the inspection pits into the baseboard in the electric locomotive tracks underway

26th March 2013
Much more work has been done on trackwork and wiring, although with wiring there is little evident progress!
In the second and fourth pictures the tracks where the diesels are standing will have catenary for electric locomotive storage whilst awaiting duty.
Just a few more feeds and this end of the layout is operational, except for turntable and associated tracks.

13th March 2013
Two of the three tracks in the station now in place, also first of six staging yard sidings.
Will now install bus wires so the sections can be connected as track is laid.

Scenic materials and switches arrived a couple of days ago, so I now have plenty to keep me busy

27th February 2013
First trackage laid around the curve to the rear.
Turntable set into the board, and possible track for museum train 4-wheel coaches between main line and turntable.

19th February 2013
Track and buildings placed on boards to get idea of eventual placing. Makes me realise I have much more space than previous layout, so may add more buildings and details, plus plenty of trees. Click thumbnail for more images

19th February 2013
Full length of baseboards now fitted, ready for trimming to size/shape. Edge will be curved instead of straight

16th February 2013
Made a start on new baseboards. This is about one third of total length so far.

12th February 2013
Just acquired another Hungarian locomotive off eBay Austria. A Roco MAV M62 diesel.
About to purchase wood framing for layout baseboards, so will be making actual progress very shortly! :)

3rd January 2013
Second Hungarian locomotive has arrived. Roco MAV 480 Traxx electric

3rd December 2012
New SZ coaches arrived today from Mini Model in Romania

19th November 2012
Latest locomotive purchase arrived today from a shop in Romania. This MAV 'Gigant' will allow cross-border workings into Hungary.

22nd October 2012
All wallboards are now fitted, so boards which are now left will form the layout baseboards. As soon as flooring is laid, construction of the layout can begin.
4th September 2012
Just taken delivery of some boards, some of which will form the baseboard for my model railway. Construction getting closer! :-)
28th August 2012
Still busy developing the upstairs rooms where the layout will be located. Getting closer to completion so construction should start in a month or so. Can't wait! Been way too long since I did any model railway work.
26th June 2012
Turntable kit completed, ready for detailing, weathering and installing on layout. Click for pictures

13th June 2012
Layout area nearly ready, so baseboard construction can soon start. Another wagon acquired for stone traffic. I am looking forward to getting the loader operational again!
5th April 2012
I had intended to have the layout area ready for initial baseboard construction and track planning by now, but due to exceptionally good weather we concentrated on completing garden projects instead of interior renovation! But now working on the upstairs again so could soon be making a start. I do now have the dimensions of layout area, so can start track planning and produce a drawing.
30th March 2012
The area where the layout will be situated will soon be ready for preliminary planning of trackplan, etc. A drawing will be shown here when initial planning is done.
18th March 2012
On reflection, I have decided that as I really want shunting operations instead of continuous running, I will make the new layout end-to-end instead of a circular run. This will reduce width but give me all I need and should be quicker to get operational.
Now I just need to get out all the buildings, etc. and work out a track plan to fit them into.
27th February 2012
Two new models collected for me and delivered yesterday by a friend are Durica 643 026 produced by Moko
and a Baat 4-wheel coach used on the Autovlak through the Bohinj tunnel, produced by Klub Baat. These coaches are still available as kits or ready-to-run in white or green. Click link or picture for details.
