Catenary

Page one      Page two

A framework was built up in brass to support the catenary independently of the shed building.

The building has been fitted over the framework. The shell can be removed easily for further interior work.

The first sections of catenary have been fitted between the shed rail and the first post

The wire is not yet tensioned, until the whole length of track has wires completed

The insulators allow the catenary inside the building to be isolated.

After making wire spans with finer wire (0.3mm) it definitely looks more to scale, so this is the wire I will use for the catenary.
This photo shows the thinner wires.

It was always intended that some sections of track would be non-electrified to ensure that diesels would
be needed! This is the track which leads down to the low level storage sidings, so diesels will be used for this section. Change to electric traction will be made in the station or near the locomotive depot. This will add much interest to operation. Also the sidings near the station are not electrified, so will be shunted by diesels.
